"Tasty bbq without heavy sauce. Good flavor. The hush puppies were an unexpected treat. Light and crisp without any of the heavy greasy texture you sometimes find on complementary fried cornbread. Service was very good. Tea stayed full and food came quickly"

"Excellent wings. I got the Rooster Hot sauce. I'm picky about my sauces in that I don't like salty. This sauce was not salty, just a ton of flavor. The Jailhouse Slaw and the Collard Greens were truly fresh and you could tell prepared with care. Service was slightly inattentive but polite and accurate. Will definitely return when I'm in the area."

"Another great meal at John's-- Jeremy and the crew delivered some great ribs and friendly service this evening. Ask for the sandwich hot sauce-- goes amazing on the ribs. And the peach pie was a perfect closer to the meal-- always enjoy coming here. Great food and ample portions at reasonable prices."

"I don't think any of the employees here really want to work. None of them smile or greet you. Everyone, from waiter, cashier & cooks, just didn't seem in a good mood at all. It was the same last time, but I wanted to give them another chance, in case I caught them on a bad day the first time. I guess every day is a bad day there. This last time, I got a large salad, which was mostly iceberg lettuce with one slice of tomato, 2 slices of a huge onion, shredded cheese, imitation bacon bits, a bunch of pickles and one small container of ranch dressing (which I didn't ask for - but they never asked me, either). I also got a half pound of pulled pork, which was actually pretty good, but the BBQ sauce tastes insanely like Sweet Baby Ray's, which I like. And, then I got a baked potato, which was huge. It has melted cheese, a dollop of sour cream and another layer of cheese & more imitation bacon bits (YUK!). I had to add lots of salt and pepper to it because it just tastes like a plain potato, even with all that cheese. I'm thinking it was some kind of imitation cheese. My son got the boneless chicken wings and loaded nachos. He said it was all okay, but definitely not the best he's had. He's much more gracious than I, lol. The last time I was here, I tried the cole slaw and it was awful. My son got the ribs & he said they were pretty dry. But, if you just want to get some pulled pork, I'd choose that over anything else."

"I was told by a local to get the ribs, and they were excellent. They were very meaty and cooked perfectly. Sides were good addition."

"After visiting a second time I'm adding this first paragraph: if you like smoky ribs these are the smokiest I think you'll find. When your wife tells you that the spare ribs taste really good oh say three or four times within two minutes you have to believe that they're being thoroughly enjoyed. I ordered a rack of ribs to take home and have a 45-minute drive so we heated them up in the Ninja air cooker and they turned out really really nice they are seasoned to start and they also come with some barbecue sauce if you wish. I am also in a catfish addict when it comes to fried fish and I ordered one fillet to take home and eat while on the road this was one of the most crispiest breadcrumb fillets I have had with the most nicest flavorful content inside the fillet. The person that was standing beside me said I should have ordered two because everybody finds they need to I found that to be true on the way home having finished one and wishing I had another. We had also an order of oysters which I thought were pretty good my wife likes them a lot they were very satisfying and enjoyable also same type of batter apparently everything that these people do has an exceeding amount of care put into it. Oh by the way; I ordered a loaded baked potato and it comes with a nicely done baked potato with I think margarine on it and a container of baked beans with shredded pork and cheese inside which turned out to be a nice combination and wasn't too sweet. overall the general appearance seemed clean and inviting comfortable to sit down if needed they did have a drive-thru wheelchair accessibility and everyone was pleasant."
